As homeschool parents, you spend so much time shaping your children’s education, faith, character, and future. But one question is easy to put off:

If something happened to us, who would raise them?

Most parents know they should have a plan in place.

But between choosing guardians, preparing legal documents, thinking through provision, and knowing how to talk through the plan as a family, it can be hard to know where to start.

If you attended a Teach Them Diligently conference this spring, you may have met Jim and Beth Hood there, and probably Nora too, who was usually the one greeting families at the booth when she wasn’t off shopping for curriculum.

They were the estate planning booth with the six-foot knight, and they spoke to packed rooms of homeschool families about guardianship and estate planning.

In this free online workshop, Jim and Beth Hood will walk you through the Five Foundations of the Family Shield and take a deeper look at the practical planning pieces many families find confusing, including guardianship, wills, trusts, probate, powers of attorney, provision, organization, and follow-through.

You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of what may be missing, what questions to ask, and what it takes to move from good intentions to a plan your family can actually find, understand, and use.

What We’ll Cover

During the workshop, we’ll talk through:

  • choosing guardians
  • wills, trusts, and probate
  • powers of attorney and healthcare documents
  • provision and beneficiary designations
  • organizing your plan so your family can find it
  • leaving guidance for the people you love

About Jim & Beth Hood

Hi, we’re Jim and Beth Hood, the husband-and-wife team behind Family Shield Estate Planning and the authors of Who Would Raise Them?.

We’ve been married 25 years, and we live on an 18-acre homestead in the Arkansas Ozarks, where we’ve been homeschooling our daughter Nora for the past six years. This spring we had the honor of speaking at the Teach Them Diligently conferences about the question that changed our own family: If something happened to us, who would raise her?

The Hood Family

Like many parents, we talked about estate planning for years before we finished it. It sat in the “we really need to get to that someday” category, right next to cleaning out the hall closet.

When we finally faced it, we realized this was never just a legal question. It was a stewardship question. Answering it brought us so much peace that helping other families do the same became our work. We’re estate planning educators, not attorneys.

Our goal is simple: to help your family move from good intentions to a plan your loved ones can actually find, understand, and use. Because someday is not a plan.

Ready for the Next Step?

Register for the free Family Shield Workshop and we’ll send you the “Who Would Raise Them?” Video Class and the Steward’s Audit right away. Watch the video, take the audit, then bring your questions to the live workshop.

Love doesn’t just hope. Love prepares.
